Each issue distributes $1,000 USD in Recognition Awards and invites awardees to serve as panelists in the next issue.

What It Is

PatchRoot.org is a seasonal journal and public digital commons.


It is an independent, collaborative space for regenerative storytelling, documentation, and citizen science inquiry.
 

We amplify farmers, land stewards, technologists, builders, educators, artists, policymakers, and systems thinkers across regions. Everything we publish is public and open access.


No ads.
No fees.
No pay-to-play.
No subscriptions.

Recognition Awards

Each season, a maximum of 42 nominations are reviewed through an internal nomination process led by the panel, participating organizations, and the Stewardship Circle.
Eight Recognition Awards are granted per issue to individuals, initiatives, or organizations:

1 Core Award — $500 USD

Featured profile and public recognition.

3 Mycelium Awards — $100 USD each

300 to 500 word spotlight features.

4 Microbe Awards — $50 USD each

Short spotlight quotes and symbolic recognition.

All awardees receive:


• Public feature within the issue
• A symbolic badge
• Invitation to serve as a panelist in the next issue
• Open invitation to participate in the Stewardship Circle
The Stewardship Circle remains open and evolving.

Stewardship and Governance

PatchRoot operates with a rotating panel and a Stewardship Circle that guides nominations, themes, and direction.
